Today ‘games and sports’ have become an integral part of the present- day school
education. Of late educationists, teachers and school administrators have come
to realise the importance of sports and games in school life.
Once upon a time games and sports were looked upon merely as a ‘period of break’
to extend the muscles, and to give a time of rest to the students. But today its
value has been mostly recognised, and is considered as an integral part of
school curriculum.
One of the prime considerations in having games and sports in school is to
develop the inborn sports talents of students. If proper opportunities are
given, young children full of energy and vigour can excel in sports and games.
Our can excel in sports and games.
School is not only a place to develop student’s mental abilities but also a
place where they can develop their hidden sports talents. Our P.T. Usha, Sunil
Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Anju Bobby George, etc., did not emerge out of the
moon. They all got a good start during their school life.
The value of sports and games in breaking the monotony of school life cannot be
undermined. Generally games are provided after several periods of classes. It
enables the students to relax. It gives them vigour and fresh energy.
Time was when only a few students, who were fond of games like hockey, football,
cricket or tennis, were allowed special facilities. But now regular programmes
are drawn up in all educational institutions to persuade as many students as
possible, regardless of special aptitudes, to participate in games, and not
merely watch matches occasionally to cheer up their favourite teams or attend
the prize distribution functions at the end of a sports season.

The college encourages all students to participate in sports activities and physical training. A
dedicated physical trainer has been appointed for the same.
College sends the promising students
to the training programs conducted by the college. Students also participate in camps, hikes,
sports seminars & workshops organized by the College.
Selected students participate in sports
events conducted up to the district level.
The college organizes ‘Sports Week’ every year when a
whole lot of events like Karate, Chess, Kho-Kho, Rope Mallakhamb etc. are conducted. Students are
also encouraged to participate in indoor games like Carom, Chess and Table-tennis. Besides these,
emphasis is also given to Yoga and Martial Arts.
